This Week’s Plan

You made it to the last week of the pre-transition phase, and this week we’re going to accomplish another big goal. We’re going to introduce raw meaty bones. This process will strengthen your pup’s stomach muscles to properly digest bone content as nature intended.

Chicken, duck, and turkey necks are the easiest to introduce and the most gentle on the stomach. We recommend you begin with the smallest neck you can find. If your dog is not allergic to chicken or generally not sensitive, raw chicken necks are great. Alternatively you can serve 1/8 to 1/4 of a duck neck, depending on the size of your dog.

Note: If you feed chicken necks and your dog experiences diarrhea or tummy upset, your dog is likely sensitive to the chicken. Don’t panic! Simply switch to duck or turkey necks.

Continue feeding your pup’s current food. You’ll only feed one meal with the current food, and the second meal is 100% raw. Feed the raw meal ideally for breakfast, and the current food for dinner.

A Big Milestone

This week, we will be accomplishing one of the biggest milestones of the course: we’re phasing out kibble. This coming Friday will be the last day your pup will eat kibble. FOREVER!

SATURDAY

Today we introduce a small neck for the first time. We’re also doubling the size of each meatball. Additionally, we now feed only one meal of the previous food per day.

We Increase

Serve two larger meatballs of the same protein source once a day.
Withhold snacks.

1 dose of goat milk or probiotics
1 dose omega oil
serve with the raw food meal

SUNDAY

We take a break from the neck addition, and instead we add another large size meatball.

We Continue

Serve the same single raw protein source, three meatballs, once a day.

MONDAY

We serve another meal with a single neck.

This Week’s Plan

This week we’re going to introduce the most critical supplement: Omega 3 (from a high quality animal-based source).

To make sure this week is successful, we’re going to stick to the same protein source from the previous week while continuing to supercharge the development of healthy gut bacteria with probiotics.

Continue feeding your pup’s current food. Continue feeding less of the current food according the meal size of the raw food this week. Feed the raw additions at least one hour away from the current food.

SATURDAY

Today we introduce a high quality, animal based omega oil. Always remember to reduce the size of the regular meal accordingly.

This Week’s Plan

This week we’re going to accomplish one tremendously important goal! We’re going to introduce raw food while beefing up the healthy gut bacteria. Improving the gut bacteria will make the transition process much smoother and easier for your pup.

PROCESS OF INTRODUCTION: Remember we talked about this in our learning chapters? Choose ONE single source of protein for this week.

We also recommend choosing a neutral or cold protein to avoid spiking sensitivities during this important stage.

PROTEIN OPTIONS:

  1. Preferred: A single protein chub/grind that has all the “REQUIRED” components (as discussed in Chapter, “Components For A Complete Diet”). Avoid chubs/grinds that contain veggies, fruits, and supplementation. We’re keeping it clean and simple for greater success.
  2. Second choice: This method is only if you’re not able to source the chubs or grinds altogether, and you plan on building the meals yourself. Source a single great quality protein (90% muscle meat and 10% organs from the same animal species). Clean and chop finely with a meat knife. Form small size balls or tiny patties. Place them on a tray individually, and freeze for a couple of hours until solid. Place them in a resealable bag or container, then deep-freeze for at least 7 days. Defrost individually in the fridge until feeding.

The meatball size:

Tiny dogs: size of blueberry
Small dogs: size of a cherry
Medium dogs: size of a walnut
Large dogs: size of a lime

Continue feeding your pup’s current food. Reduce the current food slightly as you increase the meal sizes of the new food this week. Feed the new additions at least one hour away from the current food.

This week we’re going to accomplish three amazing goals:

  1. Stop all processed treats and introduce delicious healthy alternatives.
  2. Develop healthier habits to keep your pup hydrated.
  3. Begin healing the gut with probiotics to prepare for the transition to raw food.

Continue feeding your pup’s current food and meal sizes. Feed the new additions at least one hour away from the current food.

Before you begin, be sure to take “before photos” of your pup. You’ll thank us later! 🙂
